Hiking in Prince Rupert

Butze trail & Tall trees trail

Two of the more scenic trails in town are approximately 6 km from the Pioneer Inn or 7 minutes by car. The local transit bus makes daily scheduled trips to Port Ed and does stop at that area. Check with B.C. transit for an up to date schedule. The Butze trail leads to the beach where it follows along the coastline for a distance before turning back towards the starting point totaling 4.5 km. There are view points along the way and if timed just right you can witness the tide changing directions over the rapids. There are path ways to the beach at different locations where you can walk along the beach.

The access point for the Tall trees trail is just across the highway from the Butze trail and is approximately a 3.7 km hike. This trail does get steep with several switchbacks with an elevation at the end of approximately 450 m. This trail is only one way up and one way back.
